Parents, why in the world do you think your elementary or possible middle school child needs a cell phone.

We did just fine growing up with out them.

If you just can’t say no to your child and need some will power, let me give you some very alarming news.

It is the bright shiny object, it will capture their attention for a while, but when it does no interest them anymore, they will want the next new shiny object.

School age children are already experiencing verbal and written communication skills challenge today. Throw in the texting and they are learning to write improperly. Teaching are already seeing test scores drop. They are also experiencing children who are having so much difficulty spelling words and writing. This is due to the fact they are using acronyms on their phone, more than they are writing down words in full sentence structure.

When they are on their phone, they are 10 times more likely to be involved in some kind of environmental issue. No I am not talking about running into a tree. I am talking about being assaulted by a stranger, hit by a car, etc.

So parents, do not go blindly into that the Good Cell Phone Purchase, Make the child wait.

Yes, I know, I just angered some sensitive mom or dad somewhere. Frankly you wouldn’t get upset if you were being a parent in the first place.

Being a Professional Martial Arts Instructor, we have seen just about every dynamic possible with families today.

Our children are heading for a very difficult time. I truly feel, the most in our history. The main reason why is parents have stopped parenting. They are relying on everyone else to do their job.

They are relying on the schools to provide all of their education. Guess what, we are ranked 26th in the world. We have 3rd and 4th world countries, whipping our butt. Most parents want to keep their head buried in the sand. It is time to pull your head out and start parenting and leading your children.

The top three things you need to teach your children are respect and courtesy, that means saying sir, ma’am, please, thank you and your welcome. There needs to be a set routine in your house, the children feel much more comfortable and confident. The third step is to tell them you love them and believe in them, our world is very harsh today.

Great Plug for Martial Arts Industry

Could Lead Parents to Make Incorrect Studio Choice

Master Gary A. Schill, Peak Performance Martial Arts

Let’s face it all Martial Arts Schools are NOT the same. If fact, there are only a handful that I would consider Professional. Most Martial Arts Schools are run by hobbyest, they love the Martial Arts, but they really know nothing about developing children, adults and families.

The Kung Fu Panda movie is great for our industry, but it is giving potential parents the wrong impression about industry. They see the movie and they are believing that all studios are the same.

Their perception of a Professional Martial Arts School is no where near the reality. Why? Mainly, because they do not know the difference. Truthfully, most instructors do not know the difference.

Parents need to be informed as to what they need to look for in a school. The first piece of advice I am going to leave with you is “The Style Makes No Difference”. Now my colleagues are having a fit right about now, but if they were to be honest, they would say the same thing.

The important things are the studio appearance, the instructor core and their experience in teaching not how many championships we have won. Their needs to be a tested and proven curriculum and there are many other factors associated with a professional school that can only be experienced at one.
