If you have been keeping track of the recent news, you know that there have been an unprecedented amount of arrest in the bullying tragedy that caused Phoebe Prince of Massachesetts to commit suicide.

She endured more than 3 months of threatening texts messages, face to face bullying and cyber bullinging. Phoebe hanged herself in her second floor apartment.

The District Attorney has made 9 arrest in the case, all of them teenagers and classmates of Ms. Prince. As a father and owner of Peak Performance Martial Arts, I am appalled that nothing is being done to the teachers who openly knew the bullying was going on and did little to nothing to prevent it.

Parents, you need to know what is going on with your kids. You need to turn the television off, video games off and get off Facebook to realize there is more going on with your kids then you realize.

If you allow your child to have a cell phone and they are texting, you need to be reading their text. If they are on the computer, you need to be monitoring their facebook page religiously.

Let’s face one true fact, they are much more technologically advanced then you. They are also facing predators that you never had too. Yet, they are not as strong emotionally as we were growing up.

Kids are real bold when texting and messaging on social sites, they also get really bold when no one checks their behavior on these sites and they believe this kind of communcation is acceptable in everyday life. There is also this taboo about disciplining children that do not belong to you or that you do not know. We need to get back to the village raising the child.

Look for sudden mood swings from extraverted to intraverted. Listen to what they are saying, if they say they have no friends, something is up.
